Trip Report

My husband and I are back from our first trip to Paris. It was everything we had hoped for and then some. The weather was perfect, only a light jacket needed in the morning. We stayed at the Hotel Saint Louis on the Ille St. Louis and found it to be quite charming, albeit small, but certainly adequate, as who wants to spend your day in your room when Paris awaits. Bernard at the hotel was extremely helpful and and guided us through negotiating the metro and even finding a department store. The location is perfect, a wonderful place to come back to after spending the day walking endless miles and seeing all that Paris had to offer. We took the advice of some Trip Advisor members and had a dinner at LeVieux Bistro near Notre Dame. Had a terrific evening and absolutely wonderful beef bourguignone. We also discovered a little gem of a cafe at the end of the street where our hotel was located, Le St. Regis Cafe. Everyone there was extremely friendly, and we sort of made it %26quot;our cafe%26quot;. They had terrific French onion soup and a roast chicken roasted in a wine sauce. Our trip included a daytrip to Bayeux with a tour of the beaches and American Cemetary. This was a very moving experience. All in all, we had a delightful time. Seven days was enough to merely get a taste of the city , and we could not see everything that we wanted to see. I guess this is a lovely excuse to go back.

It%26#39;s nice to hear that your trip was perfect, including the weather. I certainly agree that the size of a hotel room is insignificant when you%26#39;re in Paris because it would be a waste to spend time in a room when you can be enjoying a city that has so much to offer.

Glad you had a good time, it is nice when one can find their %26quot; own%26quot; piece of Paris ( your cafe) . Now you will have to go back and visit again!

Glad to hear it was such a good trip - Ile St Louis is my favorite area to stay in Paris (next time, consider getting a small apartment there and you can do your shopping in those wonderful little shops!).

Sounds like you had a great time. Can tell more about your trip to Bayeux? I am considering visiting when we go in December, if the weather is agreeable. Did you go on your own or on an organized day trip? I have found a couple of tour groups on the web that sound good, but I%26#39;m hoping for specific recommendations.

Thanks.
