easter events

we will arrive in paris on 3/22/08...day before easter...any thing special going on...where would we go to church...what is open or closed on this day...what tourist sites are closed...also, i read that monday, the day after easter is a holiday...we leave 3/30 so i would like to plan carefully..thank you for your help

A friend and I were in Paris last Easter week and it seems like Easter lasts from the Friday before to the Monday after Easter. Monday is a holiday. We didn%26#39;t notice anything closed and didn%26#39;t have any trouble finding cafes to enjoy a drink or a restaurant for dinner. The areas we were during that weekend, Ile de la Cite, Ile St Louis, area around Notre Dame, Place Contrascarpe and the banks of the Seine, etc. were more crowded than usual, and some of this was due to the beautiful weather, but this seemed to make it more fun for us than otherwise. We plan on going the same time next year, or the week afterwards.
