Main street that runs to the place General DeGaulle as I recall - cant get much more central - in the modern commercial centre rather than the old town. . But busy traffic bus and car noise - you would want to be on upper levels

Hi there,

As said in the previous post, Bd Dugommier is a fairly large and busy road. It is also on the main bus route. Parts of it are close to the railway line but it is very central. Guess it depends on the apartment%26#39;s aspect and sound insulation!

Try the following link and enter Bd Dugommier and Antibes for a map

Both the above answers are spot on...depends on the building , floor level and what you are going to use it for. I live in Antibes so can walk past and have a look at some point if you want to send me the building name ? Regards, Michelle.

According to a friend who is a Nice estate agent, studios are now very hard to sell. I guess this will be reflected in the price you pay but it is worth thinking about.

London Bob,

Interested in your post.

Does this apply all along the coast or is it mainly in Nice?

Did your friend give any particular reasons for the difficulty vendors are finding in selling studios?

Thanks for any insight you can provide

He believes that it applies generally throughout France and is a result of greater prosperity with the higher expectations that result. Something very similar has happened in the south of England. We live and brought our children up in a small four bedroom house with a large garden. All the houses in the street used to be occupied by families but now almost all have childless or retired couples. Our neighbours moved to a larger house when they had a child, the mother saying that %26#39;these houses are too small for children%26#39;. My parents had three children in a two bedroom house without a bathroom and viewed our house as offering incredible space and luxury.

Sorry to go on a bit but I think it makes the point that with greater prosperity people want more space. We have bought twice in the Nice/Villefranche area and it is clear to me that, from the investment point of view, it is worth stretching to buy a one bedroom (Deux pieces) in what is considered a good area. Of course, it does depend what you can afford. If your main aim is to have a foothold on the Riviera a studio allows you to get in at little cost.

Thanks for your reply.

Take your point about the affluence angle -it%26#39;s always nice to have as large a property as possible in the best location that you can afford.

Could also be the %26quot;Spanish effect %26quot; with investors getting chary or just that rental returns on studios aren%26#39;t what they used to be.

Will look out for price drops when we%26#39;re there next week!
