What is the weather like in Provence in January?

We want to plan a trip to Provence in January? Will the weather make touring difficult? Is there enough to do in January? Are the markets open? Are other attractions open? Will the weather make touring difficult?

Depends on where you%26#39;re going in Provence.

Weather is milder in the aera of Nice than in the aera of Marseilles

Weather is colder in the inland than on the coast

By the way, usually the weather is fine not very hot but mostly sunny.

The weather won%26#39;t make touring difficult as soon as you like mild / cold weather !

All the markets and attractions are open during january. Going in Provence during that month is a nice idea because you will enjoy the cities and their attractions alone, without any tourist !!

But you will miss the big %26quot;stuff %26quot; of Christmas time which is really important here !

Hi

Very often here in January it is very cold. This year was an exception

and the whole winter was mild.2 years ago we had snow in Isle sur la Sorgue during the month of Jan.

It is true that there aren%26#39;t many tourists so you can get arround but a lot of chambre d%26#39;hotes like ourself close during Jan %26amp; February so you are limited. If you have the choice of dates I would reccomend that spring is a better time to see Provence.

And in Bedoin, where I live, all but two of the 15 restaurants were closed for the winter.

And, yes it can get very cold. It just depends on the year. Like Escargot said, last winter was very mild, the winter before brought temps of -17 celcius for more than a month at night.

We have twice had holidays in western Provence in January. Both times weather was sunny with temps around 55/60F in the afternoon. As others have said, it can be much colder and very windy.

We were based in Avignon both times. Avignon and Arles were both busy with everything open ( rather too many tourists in Arles) but we had the Camarge to ourselves!

When we go back we will stay in Avignon again.
