I apologise in advance if this is a really dumb question but we are leaving for Paris next week and I was just wondering if anyone knows if its ok to carry an umbrella in your hand luggage on the plane?
We are flying with jet2.com and I can%26#39;t find it in the hand luggage guidelines, so I am assuming that it would be ok.
But on the other hand it might be seen as a threat.
Can anybody help?

There%26#39;s no mention of umbrellas in the banned list so I would think it%26#39;s Ok.

Assuming you don%26#39;t have a sword hidden in the handle (or a dagger, since you are talking about travel size umbrellas, LOL) I can%26#39;t see how it could be a problem.

I usually take 2 umbrellas in my carry-on with me (one for me and the other for the person who forgot to bring one) and I never had a problem.
Also, I buy the cheap one%26#39;s that we can get here at the %26quot;dollar store%26quot; for just a buck and I leave them in Paris to make room for the stuff I%26#39;m bringing home.

Just flew back from Paris on Tuesday ,umbrellas fine!

Umbrellas are okay. I assume you%26#39;re bringing the small portable variety - you%26#39;ll be taking out eyeballs on small Parisienne sidewalks with the large ones.

Thank you very much for all your very helpful replies.
Yes we are only taking small ones with us (without daggers in the handles lol)
I%26#39;m hoping that we wont need them and the weather will be nice while we%26#39;re there but I%26#39;d rather have them with us just in case lol
Thanks again, Lisa x

This is a great question. You are allowed to carry an umbrella on board as well as your coat and a cane if needed.
On our return trip aboard USair. They took my hand umbrella away and told me that they would check it because it had a metal point on the top.
I thought I would never see it again but at the end of my trip there it was in perfect shape!
If you are packing it in your carry on it should be fine!
