Rugby World Cup

Hello all, we are two guys, late 30s who will be staying in Nice for the rugby world cup 1/4 finals over the weekend of 5th-8th October.

Basically want the names of good clubs, good restaurants; basically where do the beautiful people go :-).

Also, we`ll go by train to the 1/4s in Marseille. How long is the journey, how much does it cost etc, etc.

Never been to this beautiful city before so the more info the better. many thanks,

RD

Hi RD,

Cannot answer most of your questions - suggest you post with a different subject heading as you%26#39;ll get a wider audience for your message.

I read it because my husband follows rugby so I happended to notice whilst on holiday with a girl friend that there was one bar that had a banner outside advertising that it was showing the rugby matches - not sure what it is like as didn%26#39;t go inside but, if you follow the Av. des Phoceens from the seafront as you turn the corner towards the fontaine du soleil you will spot it.

good luck!

For beer and to watch big screen sports go to Waynes or/and Ma Nolans, both close to the Flower Market(Cours de Saleya), happy hour Noon-9pm , just 3.50e a pint, normally 6e.

Watched the France / Namibia match in the Place Rosetti on an outside screen, while eating and drinking with the locals, awesome atmosphere,

as for where the beautiful people go?, I dont know cos my wife is usually with me!!

Marseille to Nice is quite a trek and i believe about 30e or was it £30, cant quite remember,

Have a good time.

There are a number of pubs in the old town where you can watch the sports action. We went to the British Pub (rue droit?) to watch an England match recently. They have the facility to show different matches on different screens in different corners of the pub which can be quite useful e.g. the English were in one corner watching England v Russia whilst the French were in another watching Scotland v France.

The train journey takes approx. 2 1/2 hours. You can either go TGV, or Corail Teoz or take the slower train which is a bit cheaper. I think it cost us about 61 euros (one-way). We booked online via voyages-sncf.com and travelled on a Teoz service - lovely train....

Lots of places to eat in Opera Saleya - we went for steak. Lovely. More bars along here to catch the action too.

We visited Nice for a mid-Rugby holiday and visited Cannes on the train (Lovely afternoon spent on the beach) and Monaco by bus.
