Wow, after a 4 hour delay on the runway at JFK, got into Paris yesterday afternoon.
It%26#39;s the usual rainy/cloudy weather. If you are coming in this week, watch out - the traffic is H-O-R-R-E-N-D-O-U-S due to the air show. It took over 90 minutes to get into the city via van. I STRONGLY recommend you take the RER.
I am anticipating sitting down at the cafe for my first coffee. The stress will be gone by then.

Have a great time!!

Hi Pixfield
Glad you survived yet another delay in NY - same airline? Are you staying in a hotel or an apartment (which arrondissement)? BTW, there will be sunny spots today but I am sure you will %26quot;take an umbrella%26quot;. Keep us tuned!

Sitting 4 hours on the runway!!!! Oh my gosh!!!!

Wow! Four hours on the runway at JFK! Joy...not.
So happy to hear you are in Paris now! Wish I was! Well, I hope to hear all about it when you have time!! Yes, I have heard about the airshow, and had not thought how that might impact traffic ! Well, I guess now after all that slow %26quot;progression%26quot; to your destination, you can enjoy Paris at last! Ah...sitting down at the cafe for your first coffee..that sounds truly splendid! Have fun!

I have a practical question, and don%26#39;t know who can answer it. It is common for people (especially if getting mileage tickets) to book the flight arrangements many months in advance (if it%26#39;s really popular time, I do it as soon after the 300-day release date as possible). But, when it comes time to book accommodations, this can present problems if something else is going on at that time.
Is there a reliable way to see at a glance, well in advance, all major events are scheduled for the period one might be considering? For instance, I love to be in Paris in May and June, and/or in September and October, but sometimes run up against a fashion week or other big event (e.g., soccer playoffs), and that can mean that there isn%26#39;t much availability in small hotels, favorite apartment areas, etc. Does anyone have suggestions?

Pixfield, another set of rotten luck being stuck on the tarmac again? Sorry about that! But at least you%26#39;re in Paris! Please post a trip report and photos as usual.
Have fun!

Hi Pixfield,, how awful, four hours on a runway. I am mildly claustraphobic , so that would drive me nuts having an EXTRA four hours added onto my %26quot;tube time%26quot;. I do think airlines should be bound by a law that says if after 1 or 2 hours they are still on the ground , they must return to gate and allow pax. to wait in a proper seating area.
Ah, but now you can relax,, it must be a pleasure to sit down and have ones first cafe and mentally plan out the next days %26quot; to do %26quot; list! LOL
Can%26#39;t wait to hear fromyou.
PS Are you going to a Jim Hayes dinner this time?
|||
After that rough start, I%26#39;m confident that being in Paris will be even more delightful. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Hi Pix-
Mind sharing which air france flight you took. What was the reason for the delay? We are booked on Delta/Air France for a 10:55pm out of JFK. There will most certainly be an international incident if I am waiting 4 hours on a non flying plane. Can%26#39;t handle it...for sure! I am afraid I will be carted away....
Thanks for the info! Hope you are enjoying........everything!

Hi pixfield -
Glad you finaly arrived and I hope you really did enjoy your first coffee.
The big problem with those delays is that you generally can%26#39;t go back to the gate because some other plane is there. Whatever the reason for the delay, I%26#39;m always relieved that we waited for the problem to be dealth with. After all, you%26#39;re not in a bus and you can%26#39;t just pull over in the event of any sort of trouble.
Have a great one.
