Bed & Breakfast around Beaune

We%26#39;ll be spending two nights in Burgundy--we%26#39;re thinking a B%26amp;B outside of Beaune to tour some vineyards, maybe Roman ruins in Autun. Then we%26#39;ll head close to Auxerre and spend one night there, and tour Vezelay, etc. We will have a car. I%26#39;m wondering about winging it and not booking rooms until we get there--or would that be totally stupid? Any room suggestions??

When will you be in Burgundy? That makes a big difference in the need to book rooms ahead of time.

Hello Carolyn - we just returned from a few days in the Beaune area and we stayed in possibly the most charming B%26amp;B I%26#39;ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. It%26#39;s in St. Romain, which is a short 10 minute drive just south of Beaune. There are amazing vineyards everywhere and although not within walking distance of any major sights, we felt it provided a nice haven for us. The name of the B%26amp;B is Domaine de la Corgette, it%26#39;s reasonably priced (I think we paid 70 euro/night) and the owner, Veronique, speaks very good english. The house itself is beautiful and Veronique must have been an interior designer in another life......they renovated the entire property. The rooms are large and roomy and comfortable. The breakfast, served at 9am every morning, is great and every detail is thought of. There is also a lovely terrace and common room for reading or enjoying a glass of wine....you can also use the kitchen so long as you clean up. There is gated parking and everyone gets their own spot. If you need suggestions on what to do, Veronique is very helpful in this area too. I will say, though, that if you do stay here, I advise arriving before dark (at least for the first night)....the streets are narrow and it may be difficult to see the sign at night. I will be posting pictures once I download them.

In any case, you will love the area! Enjoy and have fun!
