How many people are going? And for how long?
$100 is about 60-70 euros and you may not find anything within that budget depending on the season.
If the trip is shorter than a week, then they might find a hostel of some sort (assuming they are under 27) but hostels are very popular and your chance of getting into one may depend on the season.
If staying over a week, then I suggest renting an apartment/ flat. I actually looked into this when I was planning a trip but I was too intimidated as this was my first travel outside of the U.S. I wish I had rented a flat! It would have been so much roomier and convenient and I could have cooked which would have saved me a lot of money.

about 15-20 people are planning to go. Paris trip is set to about 3-5 days, and we are looking at ...hmmm...anytime between 3rd week of Oct to 1st week of Nov (2007). we are not really a finicky bunch. so long as there are clean sheets and running water we are all good. ;)and we don%26#39;t really expect to be cooped up in our rooms coz we intend to take in Paris as much as we can! =)
i have to admit im a bit lost (and panicking too). i need something/someone to point me in the right direction here... =(
thanks...

I suggest that you make your trip as late in your range as you can so the Rugby fans who stay on for a visit after the games end are gone and anyway November is a lower season so you will have better chances of finding rooms at such low rates for so many and so soon. Is your %26quot;$100 max%26quot; a per person rate? As the earlier poster said, if that is per room, it is a very low budget, especially on short notice.

BTW I would look at the cheaper larger hotels in chains with locations in the outer arrondissements like the Kyriad group, Etap hotels, and maybe Formule 1 if you all want to stay at the same place

Faux, thanks a lot for that useful info. perhaps we could go a little beyond that budget.
im still learning (cramming actually, LOL) here..
...the search continues...

Another vote for renting an apartment!

With a group of 15 - 20 wanting a mix of single beds and double beds it will need to be between 3 and 5 apartments. If they want to stay in the same building, or even close to each other, that will be hard to arrange unless they stay in 4 or 5 Citidines style apartments. If it were me, I would prefer to find a large hotel with separate rooms so the staff can do the bedmaking and cleaning each day.

I agree with Faux, renting a flat would be impractical for such a large group of people and for a trip less than a week.
I think you first need to figure out how many rooms you need to rent and go from there. Just a side note, I think French hotels tend to be small and cramped, so be aware of it when you plan how many people to fit into one room. I am a 5%26#39;3%26quot; 110lb female and I found a 3 star hotel room to be barely comfortable. Definitely small. I hear this is the norm in Parisian hotels.

i%26#39;ve recharged this topic under %26quot;HELP! planning a trip for 20-30 people%26quot;. i will continue to post there.
thanks for the time and effort spent.
am truly grateful...

Most less expensive rooms tend to be in smaller hotels and hard to have everyone stay in one hotel. I have not stayed here, but suggest you look into the Hotel Brighton. Its a large hotel near Champs Elysees, Louvre, and metro. Rates for a double start %26lt;150Euro ($200) and perhaps you could arrange a group discount for further savings.
