The first time I went to Giverny was in mid october. I was surprised at the quality of the garden! We visited just this past June, and I would have to say that October was just as good. They plant fall plants with nice color, just different than the plants in June. As always, the ponds were lovely.

I also first visited Giverny in October. The gardens were still beautiful. It was raining %26quot;desultorily%26quot; while I was walking around the pond taking pictures, and I was fit to be tied. But they came out amazingly beautiful. Except that there was only the odd waterlily (3!), the pads were still there, and the trees were still lush. The raindrops on the water were an unexpected gift that gave the photos that three dimensional quality that Monet painted... well, almost.
