Much depends on the day of the week you arrive.

It really depends what kind of food you like and what you mean by %26quot;best%26quot;, but if you want something atmospheric and memorable, Bofinger, just off the Bastille, is the classic French Brasserie.

We just returned from Paris a few days ago, we had an apartment in the Marais , just down re Rivoli from the the Bastille. if you want to jump right into it there is a small bistro just off the rue Rivoli (seine side) called the Pyranees they were very friendly to us and the food was very good. This is not a %26quot;tourist%26quot; restaruant but they do speak English and don%26#39;t give you a hard time if you are trying out your French. We enjoyed this restaurantr as well as others in the Village st. Paul between rue Rivoli and the Seine, this is a great area for interesting shops and art galleries. You will have to Goggle the address , you will enjoy.
