Paranoid about strike situation...

So, based on posts on this site, along with other websites I%26#39;ve visted while researching this strike situation, the strike has now been moved to Oct. 18th. We arrive in Paris on Oct. 17th, so hopefully our situation won%26#39;t be too bad... I was mostly concerned about the RER getting from CDG into the city. If for some reason the strikes do, well, %26#39;strike,%26#39; I guess we%26#39;ll bite the bullet and take a taxi into the city (didn%26#39;t want to do this as we%26#39;re on a tight budget). Has anyone been in the city when something like this has happened? I%26#39;m hoping this won%26#39;t affect the metro inside the city too much... If you can, calm my nerves :)

The most recent information I saw was that the date was changed to October 18. (You probably can keep up with current information about it on line.) I%26#39;ve been there during strikes and didn%26#39;t have too much trouble. If you get stuck going from the airport, you might be better taking a bus (e.g., the Air France bus) than a taxi, because the bus will have a set fare but a taxi will charge more if you get stuck in traffic (which is likely, if there is indeed a strike and everyone is trying to drive everywhere).

You can%26#39;t know what will be affect, how, for how long until you arrive. But given the potential for difficulty with RER and Metro travel...you should be researching ALL of the airport trnasfer options--TAXI PARISIAN, pre-reserved airport shuttles, Les Cars Air France, ROISSYBUS, RER %26#39;B%26#39;...and KNOW and UNDERSTAND how each works, where their pick-up and drop-off points are, how to get to all from your CDG arrival termianal (then PRINT out the information and REMEMBER to carry it with you as an aide memoire)...THIS instead of hoping and worrying UN-productively about what you cannot control.

This is good feedback, I appreciate it. I have now mapped out appropiate routings for using the RER (to Gare du Nord with a taxi or metro ride to tour hotel) or Roissybus (to Opera with a taxi or metro ride to our hotel). Ugh! Just when you think you%26#39;ve started to get things under control... I should be used to the whole European Strike thing... they always seemed to coincide with our vacation plans when I was living in Germany. C%26#39;est la vie!
