November trip--coat dilemma

Now I%26#39;ve read all the %26quot;What to wear%26quot; and %26quot;what to pack%26quot; posts, but still am unsure which coat/jacket to bring. I%26#39;ll be in Paris from the 11th of November til after Thanksgiving (hear peals of rejoicing in the background). I%26#39;m wavering between a lighter, hip-length wool coat and a heavier pea coat. Help!

Pea coat

Last year for Thanksgiving week it was rainy and very cool. Not downright cold but around 40 degrees. You need to check the weather before you leave, but I opted for a heavier coat. We are from southeast Texas and we hardly have a winter at all so we were chilly. Also, don%26#39;t forget your umbrella. It rained some of every day we were there.

I would take the warmer, more waterproof of the two. Don%26#39;t know what a pea coat is? it is already pretty chilly these days, i am cold here tonight so November will be much colder

The evenings are getting colder here in the Uk. What is a %26#39;Pea-coat%26quot; please? Not a term used here!

A pea-coat is a wool, double-breasted coat originally worn by sailors in the navy. Sometimes called a reefer jacket in Britain, worn by the Royal Navy :-)

For that time of year, I would take my trench coat with a zip out warmer lining for some options (cold, rain, etc.). Of your choices, I would definitely say take the pea coat, and then also take a heavy sweater in case you get weather that%26#39;s too warm for the coat (you can wear the coat onto the plane, where having it will guarantee that unlike every other plane you%26#39;ve ever been on, the temperatures will not resemble a refrigerator!)
