Nice trip in October

We are flying into Barcelona and taking the train to Nice. We love the food and wine of both countries and would love to take advantage of the local cultures. We are interested in taking some side trips to Corsica. We are not so much interested in museums, however. Any suggestions?

There is plenty to do in Nice if you are not in to museums!

There are a couple of ferry companies that run ferries from Nice to Corsica, including Corsica Ferries: www.corsica.net/corsica/uk/venir/move/mer.htm

As you can see, even if you get a %26quot;fast%26quot; ferry over to Corsica it will take around 3 hours, so it would be a short day trip...

Some local food stuff to try in Nice. The local %26quot;dishes%26quot; include socca, a kind of chickpea pancake, the famous salad Nicoise (which tends to have differing additions to the recipe wherever you go!) and the sandwich version of the salad Nicoise a pom bonet (not sure I%26#39;ve spelled that correctly!)

There is so much wonderful food in Nice, though, Italian and Moroccan influences and traditional French fare as well.

As well as this there are lots of activities to do if you are not in to museums, seeing the gardens at the Villa Ephrussi, visiting places like Gourdon or Eze for the spectacular views, walking up to the Castle in Nice, again for the view, going to the beach, or soaking up the local area in places like Tourrettes-sur-Loup.

Hope this helps

Be sure to spend some time in Vieux Nice and the Cours Saléya, which is where the large open-air market is held.
