Getting from CDG to Paris Hotel

We are going to Paris on Oct. 8 (Mon) and land early in the morning. What is the best way to get from the airport to our hotel? I hear taxis end up in the morning traffic and become costly. I also hear that buses get stuck and take forever, and they only drop you off near the Arc? I here the RER is not very safe, and sort of a hassle with lots of luggage. Car services/limos seem crazy expensive...and I%26#39;m not having luck just finding a shuttle.

Any personal knowledge of what we should do??

Thanks so much!

Where exactly are you going?

I am stunned to think anyone would think the RER from CDG into town is %26#39;not safe%26#39; -- unless you are bringing an insane amount of luggage or are elderly or infirm, it is also not that difficult to bring luggage -- although you will have to schlep it possibly up stairs on the metro to wherever your final destination is

pack light enough to be able to manage your own luggage and take the train in (and when you board at CDG there will be plenty of room to arrange yourself and your luggage since it is virtually empty at that point)

I%26#39;ve spent hours on the metro and taken the train to and from CDG many a time and am most certainly not young and don%26#39;t have a black belt and have lived to tell about it

Okay, so I%26#39;m glad to hear the RER isn%26#39;t that inconvenient or unsafe - am I right in saying it takes about 30 minutes to get to Paris (or to wherever we can hop on the metro)? And I am trying to limit my luggage - so we should be fine!

Thanks

It would be easier to inform you of your options if you could give an address of where you will be staying. The RER is very safe but I think that it is a hassle when you have a lot of bags. As far as the least expensive option, this would be it. Better if you could give an address of where you are trying to go.

There are several lines of shuttles - The Roissybus only drops at the Opera (or just off the place)... The Air France coaches have 2 lines from CDG and each of those has 2 drop points. The reserved shuttles will take you to any Paris hotel.

The RER transverses Paris North/South.... you can get on it at the station inside Terminal 2 or at the other station nearest Terminal 3 by taking the CDGVAL light rail to the station.

What you have to do upon reaching the nearest RER stop to your hotel depends on how much farther you need to travel. The RER ride itself takes 25-35 minutes or so. It would indeed be a hassle with a %26quot;lot of luggage%26quot;, or very small children, strollers, etc. All train stations have their share of pickpockets and con artists, hence the %26#39;safe%26#39; issue.
