This chain is %26#39;cheap%26#39; that will lure you into their vacation homes. I posted a complaint about them, and I have written the French Tourism Board, and I have also written letter to Odalys. They are all over france, but we learned our lesson with them. Never again.
They give you an inventory sheet at check in..you must count all the plates, sheets, pillows..etc...then turn the sheet of paper back in. IF anything is missing or dirty that was not marked in the beginning, you will be charged for it.
I was lucky that I noted the toilet brush was dirty, or else I would have been charged for it.
I asked for a clean toilet brush, without someone else fecal matter on it! ..but the guy was too busy to get me another one....hmmmm
the blankets must be folded and put back in the cupboards after use..which means..they are NEVER washed !! They make you leave the apartment while they investigate...and do the exit inspection.
they make you come back in and make an appointment with them to have a check out time on the day of departure..however you must check out by 10am.....
its just weird..the whole thing is weird...if you choose to stay in vacation homes, there are great ones out there....odalys is not one of them...unless you like the military or jail treatment.

I am afraid the inventory thing is not unusual France when you rent a furnished flat.
As to blankets, do you think they are washed regularly in hotels?
Don%26#39;t you have a check out time in hotels too?

Nothing you%26#39;ve cited is out of the norm for renting a cottage/villa/flat/gite in France.

true about the check out time, however, they want you to come back and make an appointment to check out.
I did not write the full incident, but we were involved in a major river accident the day before check out, and we were in the hospital. we needed to leave asap on the day of check out, and the staff said no, that we did not make an appointment to leave. we explained we were in the hospital....you can read my complaint about them, it gets worse...
anyway, we have travelled ALOT all over europe, and stayed in many many wonderful vacation homes. this was the absolute worst. i was merely making a warning to fellow travellers.
the week prior we stayed in St. Pierre sur Mer, near Narbonne, and it was an absolute wonderful stay, in a normally ran vacation home. It was not an Odalys company.
my opinon, its nice new apartment homes, but cheaply ran.

Always better to tell the whole story upfront -- instead of expressing our sympathies about your accident (and I am truly sorry, and hope you%26#39;re all recovered), we wrote you off as a complainer.
Sorry for your accident -- and sorry we wrote you off -- I hope you find some satisfaction from the main office of Odalys; it sounds as if you had a run-in with a rotten employee.

no problem ! i did not take the posts as writing me off :) ..actually i just now found these forums and posts...so its interesting to see what others have to say also. Also the FNOTSI is helping me out with issues regarding saftey from the river accident. (that a whole other story). so hopefully another person does not have the same accident, and / or end up in a very serious situation...we were lucky.
I have sent emails, certified letters, and spoken with one woman at Odalys who is doing her part in trying to help with this issue, when all in all...if the guy could just pick up the phone and apologize to me for his behavior and actions...that would have solved a world trouble!
tschuess! aus deutschland,
