How cold is 'cold?'

This is going to sound a little ridiculous... but here it goes.

As someone who is still living through a Texas Summer (which will probably last for at least another month, maybe longer) I honestly can%26#39;t remember the last time I was in or around %26#39;fall%26#39; weather. I%26#39;ve been checking the weather is Paris and the high temp seems to be in the low 60s these days, with most of the day hovering in the mid-high 50s. In North Texas, we don%26#39;t have Autumn, at least not much of it anyway. It usually seems to go from 100s, to 90s to ICE (in Dec, maybe).

I%26#39;m packing layers, and I know high 50s and low 60s will probably be perfect weather for walking around the city, but honestly, I would rather it be really warm, or really cold.. at least then I would know what to deal with. It%26#39;s been about 10 years since I%26#39;ve lived somewhere that experiences real seasons.

I know, I%26#39;m ridiculous. Any tips nonetheless?

Paris will seem chilly, maybe even bone-chilling cold to someone like you from the south. In addition to dressing in layers, bring a nice pair of dressy gloves to keep your hands warm.

When will you be there?

In winter, it will seem pretty cold. Dressing in layers and gloves would be advisable.

In summer, it won%26#39;t get as hot as you are used to, but it is feasible that you could get highs in only the 60%26#39;s and 70%26#39;s. With the global climate change they have recently had some unusual heat spells, but I wouldn%26#39;t count on it.

When I have gone in summer I usually have brought a sweater and a jacket for the cooler nights. Also, bring some jeans or long pants. It could get cool enough that shorts would be uncomfortable. I wouldn%26#39;t bring sandals or open-toed shoes. My sister visited me in June when I was a student in Paris and she brought only sandals and was miserable in the evenings.

Yeah, I understand, I live in Southern California. Don%26#39;t know if your a guy or a gal, but here%26#39;s my input.

I wear a short sleeve (t)shirt. If you%26#39;re a guy, a polo shirt works,] If you%26#39;re a gal, a fun tee that you%26#39;re comfortable walking around Paris with your arms showing definately will do the trick.

I carry a sweater/pullover in my purse/bag to layer if it gets cold.

And then I wear a jacket. It can be chilly, let%26#39;s say 65f , but when your walking you can get quite warm from the excercise or the underground environment of the metro. It gets warm down there.

I buy into that looking %26#39;Parisienne Acceptable%26#39; but I%26#39;m not interested in sweating for the sake of fashion. Even if it%26#39;s chilly and raining, I can%26#39;t emphasize, keep a lightweight sweater in your bag, and a weather friendly jacket PLUS a compact, small umbrella...you%26#39;ll have mastered the multi-climate of Paris.
