Vacation apartment location

I%26#39;m trying to decide between two vacation apartments for next July. One is located on the Seine in the 1st district. The other, a better price, is south of the Luxembourg Gardens in the 5th. It%26#39;s difficult to tell distances on the map and I am interested in walking to as many sights as possible. Would that be a reasonable expectation that far south of the river? What do you recommend?

You really need to provide more specific information to get the answer you are looking for. Addresses, websites, ect.

Thanks. Here are links:

We are four energetic 60-ish individuals, but only have so many miles per day in us. It is a first time visit for three of us so we will want to visit Notre Dame, Lourve, Eiffel Tower, the usual. We also look forward to neighborhood cafes, bakeries and such. Do you agree we may be happier with an apartment than a hotel? We have considered Hotel des Grands Hommes near the Pantheon. We think air conditioning might be a plus for mid-July.

I would appreciate any and all input, as there are many possibilities.

Tough choice. I think I would be inclined to choose 164 since you have some firt timers in your group. It would be even nicer if they had not closed the Samartine Dept Store. If you are interested in sightseeing I think it is the better location. i also like the floorplan. The location of the bathroom is such that you will not disturb one another when using it. A river view is always a nice touch.

The 5th is really nice for settling in and living like a Parisian. And Luxemburg Gardens is well worth a visit. We stayed in a VIPapartment there last year (our 7th trip to paris). We really liked all of the street market s ect. I don%26#39;t like that apartment for tow couples but would take it for two adults and two children.

Both are tempting I must say.

Have fun!

Thank%26#39;s for your well reasoned approach. Who would have thought it would be so hard? We are very excited about the trip and have plenty of time to anticipate.

they look like two good choices

one thing I noticed though -- there is no view shot of the Seine apartment -- it is my experience that if they don%26#39;t show something that should be a big selling point that is a red flag -- what does this great Seine view look like?

e.g. if the apartment boasts a terrace and they don%26#39;t show the terrace it is invariably a sad affair by the dumpster

I like the Luxembourg location better for an apartment -- it is in a real neighborhood -- it will probably be a better place for cafes, bakeries to send someone out to get morning goodies etc etc

it would be good to have a floor plan though -- since there are two baths, this should not be a giant issue -- but the floor plan of the Seine apartment is excellent -- why isn%26#39;t there one of the other? you might want to get them to fax you one before you decide

either spot will have its charms
