Firstly is the New York worth the money. Have reservations at Sequoia Lodge but as there is double the occupancy we feel it could be much busier. Travelling on 23rd Nov to get in Christmas spirit. Would gratefully appreciate any advice. We are 2 mums with 18 17 and 3yr old girls.

Our first time @ DLP was a Christmas visit on the 29th November and we stayed at Sequioa Lodge, which I would definately recommend. I do think its a matter of personal choice but I felt the atmosphere of cold weather, christmas spirits, cosy fire and log based cabins of the Sequoia Lodge did it for me.
New York was lovely with the ice-skating rink outside the main door, with music playing while you skate but you can visit this experience this anyway with outhaving to put up with staying in the loud, bright coloured, american diner style enviroment.
We enjoyed the Lodge so much we are visiting again for the Hallowen Festival this year in 4 weeks time.
If you have any more question/queries please feel free to post, i can guarantee mums will enjoy the visit as much as the girls!!

I too would sway towards the Sequoia - the log fire element is lovely to come back into and its just more cosy. You can still enjoy the New York skating and even check out the lobby etc without staying there.

Thanks for your help. One thing that sways me towards New York is the number of rooms. Double in Sequoia lodge. And I was told you could be miles back in hotel so don%26#39;t leave the room without checking you have everything.

New York is a big convention hotel though so very often instead of having your breakfast in the restaurants you are herded into one of the conference halls - its like sitting in an airport hanger. Sequoia you are always in one of the two restaurants.
Its swings and roundabouts really. I like the New ork - don%26#39;t get me wrong we%26#39;ve stayed there a number of times but I think the Sequoia still has a nicer more intimate bar/reception area. I just think its more small child friendly than the New York.
If you go for a montana room you are guaranteed to be in the main block. If you are in the lodges you can be further out.

I am going to the Sequoia Lodge on Sun 6 Oct - I cant wait - in a Montana room.
I will get back to you if I can and let you know how I find it - I am taking my 7yr old Daughter with me.

just come back from the slodge, stayed in a montana room was upgraded from the santa fe free as they%26#39;d overbooked, was on the 4th floor didn%26#39;t have a lake view, but the rooms were big and comfy, and you could go for breakfast anytime you wanted
