Does anyone know why major Paris hotels would be almost - if not sold out the weekend of October 19th - and the prices are so high and come down after the weekend.
I%26#39;m wondering if I should cancel my idea of spending a few days in Paris and pick somewhere else.
Thanks for such short notice question.

Yes It does look busy, I have found some rooms available on %26quot;Ratesto go%26quot; last minute booking site. Try and see if you like anything. Must be a Rugby game or a fashion weekend. I have no idea. I do know you will be able to find a room if that is the only weekend you can go, it just not may be in your usual hotels.

Another reputable site that will show you only hotels with vacancies is www.venere.com
I think the previous poster is right that this is caused by a combination of the World Rugby matches and Fashion Week- both are capable of filling hotels on their own- so together- wow!
Have you considered spending your weekend in a smaller town outside of Paris- we loved spending a few days in Bayeux, for instance. Even if you find a room in the city, restaurants and public transportation will likely be a madhouse- I%26#39;d rather go where I could relax a bit , not fight the hordes!

Its the Rugby World Cup Final at Stade de France that weekend. Biggest event in world rugby so its bound to be busy.

Try lastminute-com. Good luck! October is always very busy in Paris.

Also try hotels.com - I have booked through them for Paris a couple of times, with good success.

I tried 6 weeks ago to book a hotel for that particular weekend, and came up empty. Indeed, 80,000+ fans are in town for the rugby championship at Stade de France, so that%26#39;s the explanation.
I ended up saying to heck with Paris and booking a jaunt to Zurich instead, never been there, so I hope the wiener schnitizel ist sehr gut.
