Would someone please recommend a site to buy train tickets from Paris to Munich for 5-Oct.
Would a night train be advisable...4-Oct. overnight to 5-Oct?
This is my first trip to Europe...thanks in advance!

Look at the brilliant www.seat61.com for general advice on travelling by train anywhere in the world. For booking I%26#39;ve used www.raileurope.co.uk, but I%26#39;m not sure how the ticket delivery systems work for the US if you decide to buy in advance.
There are day and night trains to Munich from Paris, taking 7-10 hours, bookable in advance with a range of prices depending on how flexible you want the arrangements to be.

RailEurope is easy but expensive. You could follow the directions for booking through SNCF at tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187147-c3019/Paris:F… . This would be cheaper.
Night trains are an interesting experience and save on a night%26#39;s hotel costs if you are travelling on a very tight budget; personally, I prefer to travel by train and see the landscape in between.

Thank you....your help is truly appreciated!

Before you lock into a train, look at the arilines that fly within Europe such as EasyJet or RyanAir. We found that flying from Paris to Rome was cheaper than the night train and gave us an extra evening in Paris.

There is a direct night train or by day you could take the TGV high speed train to Stuttgart and change. Air Berlin flies this route for 99€. Wouldn%26#39;t that be better? airberlin.com

Save the planet, take the train

Amen to that! Thanks FatChris - sometime I wonder if I%26#39;m the only one who thinks that! Flying is pretty much the single most environmentally damaging thing most of us do. If it can be easily avoided, I think it should be.

While I totally agree and I do take the train whenever possible, I am still guilty of making several long haul flights every year.
I do feel bad about it and I have decided from next year I will limit myself to 1 long haul trip every two years. Within Europe I now almost never fly, the train network is excellent and it is a lot more pleasant than flying.

We booked our train from Paris to Munich through Rail Europe..We are taking the TGV high speed from the East Station and the total cost was $254 including their handling and shipping charges..You will have to change trains in Stuttgart and it was quite easy to purchase..Good Luck

I just love overnight trains, and have done it three times in Europe, the best one being Barceona-Paris. I recommend the large private compartment, if you can afford it. Check to make sure it has private bathroom with shower - we needed the shower to stow our luggage as many of the trains don%26#39;t have baggage cars.
One important tip if you plan to eat in the dining car (the best part): as soon as you board, find your cabin and then head for the dining room to reserve your table. They fill up fast, especially if you want a two-top.
LOVE the overnight trains!
