hi there,

i%26#39;m wondering if anyone could tell me how to get from marseille airport to the st charles tgv station, and approx. how long it would take?

thankyou for your help

sorry more questions!

also, do you have to book tickets on the tgv in advance, or can you just turn up and pay on the day?

I am planning on travelling from marseille to paris on the 12th oct., but as I am flying in to marseille on the same day I cant be definite with my times

I am assuming it might be a popular route and therefore be worth booking in advance?

thanks again

Hi there-

Best way to get from Marignane airport is to take the shuttle. Right outside the airport, you will see big blue buses (called Cartrieze) and they leave every 10 or 15 minutes. No need to book in advance- there%26#39;s always room. The buses%26#39; first stop is %26quot;la porte d%26#39;aix%26quot; (i think) but stay on till you get to the station.

The TGV%26#39;s are quite frequent from Marseille to Paris but since it originates there, (unlike if you are leaving from the Aix TGV station), you should be able to get a seat no problem (depending, of course, what day you are travelling). Lots of times First Class tickets are not sold out. I would go to the sncf website anyway and check it out just to be sure.

It is very easy - take the regular Airport - Marseille Centre shuttle bus service. It costs 8€, operates every 20 minutes, takes about 20-30 minutes and drops you off just outside the Gare Saint-Charles SNCF station. Buy your ticket from the ticket office just outside the arrivals hall - turn right as you exit the building if you arrive at the main terminal.

There is a fair amount of construction work in and around the train station at the moment which is a little disorientating but things are fairly well signposted there.

thank you both very much for that information

much appreciated

We%26#39;ve just been, and I think it was 8.50 Euro each for the bus between the airport and train/bus station (next to each other)

There can be a bit of a scrum to get on the coach.

You have to put your own luggage on and then show the driver your ticket and get it punched before getting on the bus.

The bus goes from the far right hand side of the airport (standing with your back to the terminal). You can buy a ticket at the %26#39;portacabin%26#39; opposite the stop.

I am working at marseilles airport so I confirm that the right price is 8.5 euros. The bus stop is between hall 1 and hall 3/4.

Be careful when you organize your time schedule because the traffic jam on the marseilles motorways can be awfull and so the trip can be longer than half an hour. (8/9 am 5/7pm are the rush hour)

The trip to Aix en provence TGV station is faster ( 15 mns ) and because the station is smaller everything is easier but you have less connections between Aix and Paris than between Marseilles and Paris

The sncf site is :
