I am not sure about bus schedules for such a trip but you may obtain rail information at:

http://www.voyages-sncf.com/

Look for the small round circle on the bottom left of the web page whcih looks like the flag of Great Britain. Select it to proceed in English.

Then search this forum for MorganBs French SNCF booking guide.

International coach journeys can be booked on http://www.eurolines.com/ but it looks as if you have to either start or finish your journey outside France. Most bus services are run within individual departments, possibly going to the nearest city, but not going right across country.

In any case, take the train - it%26#39;s faster and more convenient!

Your best bet will probably be to purchase a Eurail pass and use the railways. There is regional bus service in France...but there is no central %26#39;..authority..%26#39; for these semi-autonomous, regional transportation authorities. In addition to this...some of the distances you%26#39;re planning on covering would take about 15 minutes less than forever by inter-connected regional bus service

This might help some with route planning--

As an example of the %26#39;regional%26#39; bus service, this is a map of Brittany, which would cover the Rennes - Brest section of the journey brittanytourism.com/eng/preparez/transport/c… but unfortunately this doesn%26#39;t give any info about where to look for timetables for the routes it shows - I%26#39;d guess they%26#39;ll need tracking through 3 or 4 different departmental transport authorities, and some of the services may only run a couple of times a day (or once a week if they serve a market). The dotted red line direct from Rennes to Brest is the railway, so timetables are on the sncf website. Take the train!

I agree with previous posters: train is the best way.

Trains in France are very reliable and if you are a student younger than 26 years of age, you can get great discounts on some trains (even if you are not a resident of France)

One of the best %26#39;..features..%26#39; of the diebahn.de rail web site (you have to take some time to explore and poke around within this site and %26#39;..tinker..%26#39; with some of it%26#39;s %26#39;..features..%26#39; to get the most from it) is that it will also provide a detailed listing of the towns / stations / stops along a given rail route...which can be useful in planning an itinerary.
