Snow it depends, the last few years it has been a bit slow in coming.
But if you take the Aguile du Midi cable car it is guarenteed.
You will not be skiing as most of the lifts will be closed as this is the extremely low season.

hi...redzed1...thanks a lot for the info.....travelling on budget....any suggestions please? Thanks in advance

It%26#39;s very quiet then. I like it though - if you get lucky with conditions, it can be lovely, all autumnal and crisp. Cheap options to stay include the Vagabond, 30 euros all in.
But it%26#39;s such a quiet time of year that it may well be worth searching around for a good deal, spending a little more could get you quite a nice hotel at that time of year, and if it%26#39;s raining, could be well worth it. And you could get somewhere central, too, which again might be nice when everything is so quiet.
If you can be flexible with dates, it would be well worth keeping an eye on the weather and going last minute when the forecast is good, as walking and doing the Aiguille Du Midi on a cold clear day is wonderful, but it%26#39;s not so much fun if you happen to hit a rainy spell.

Depends on your budget.
As Firebug says Vagabond will be cheap as will Gite de Belvedere in Argentiere 13euros a night per bed.
But they are dead basic.
The Hotel Dahu in Argentiere is about 45E per night for 2 people.
What about renting a small apartment ? Be somewhere in the region of 400E per week.

Folks, am planning for my first Ski Trip this winter.. never done this before. Not sure about going really cheap and into Slovenia or Bulgaria as am looking to mix skiing with an exciting nightlife as well, and have heard those places are rather more quiet than Chamonix.
Advise please.. thanks guys!

I tihnk a name change might be appropriate but your choice.
Go to Andorra for %26quot;cheap%26quot; skiing and nightlife.
(There ain%26#39;t no such thing as good cheap skiing) but you pays your money.
If you are a begiinner then Andorra will be fine more than you will be able to handle. Instruction is reputed to be very good and the snow record is OK.
Cost I would put it above Slovenia or Bulgaria but cheaper than the Alps. Bear in mind it is not just the accommodation and transport your lessons, equipment hire (and quality) and most important the lift pass are all major factors re the cost.

ha ha will consider the name change bit.. Red Z
Thanks for the advice pal. It%26#39;s four of us going.. so should be good. Oh, we%26#39;re ready to spend money all right.... no tight purses here.. but just that, as this is our first time on the slopes, don%26#39;t want to go to the biggest and the most popular resorts!
Andorra sounds ideal. I did asome R%26amp;D on all of Europe.. and distance and cost wise, this does seem to work out for the best.. plus it seems the whole country is duty free (yipes! cheap booze woop woop!!). The nightlife is reputed to be ok too.
Bulgaria is ok cost wise and nightlife wise.. but it%26#39;s a long flight from London!
Exit..
